The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC, sponsors an annual "Summer Camp Film Festival." The theme in 2012 was "Baby Kamp," and the 3 films shown were "Baby Face" (1933), "Baby Doll" (1956), and "Cry-Baby" (1990). The "Camp Counselor"-Host of the Summer Camp Film Festival was Dave Wilt (me). This year's series began on 14 June 2012 with the Barbara Stanwyck vehicle "Baby Face," a movie about a young woman who uses her feminine wiles to exploit men in order to escape a life of poverty and abuse. This film was severely cut and re-edited to placate the censors, and was only available in its revised version for many years. However, fortunately the uncut "Baby Face" was re-discovered in 2005 and is now available on DVD for all to see. The introduction to "Baby Face" at the Hirshhorn festival included a discussion of "pre-Code" Hollywood, a period in the early 1930s when the Production Code Administration had not yet become the industry's in-house censor board. Summer Camp "Losing My Mind" - AllSaints Basement Sessions

Summer Camp are duo Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey, a brilliantly nostalgic 80's/90's alternative Synth band from London. Their sound has been described as 21st Century Alt-Pop, but it's far more than that in our opinion. Originally shrouded in mystery, the band drew on teenage frustrations, relationships, and classic film imagery to create lyrical, sound and visual inspiration. Summer Camp were even, in some cases, mistaken for a US based act. Jeremy states, "We've known each other for ages; we are friends from the London scene. Elizabeth sent me her recording of "I Only Have Eyes For You," and we talked about how fun it would be to do a cover bit. So we just did it and put it online under a fake name. We didn't want our friends to know we did it because we were embarrassed. We never expected the songs to get huge." Summer Camp grace the Basement Sessions with three huge releases from their killer debut album, 'Welcome to Condale', including our favourite, 'Better Off Without You'.

Naturism on Barcelona Beaches

Nudism has been a growing popular phenomenon over the past few years. Many people have turned it into their lifestyle, others see a form of perversion in it and some people make a living out of it. Nowadays, you may find camping areas, swimming pools and even entire villages of nudists! Nevertheless, this nudism fashion seeks its place in our societies.

Germany is one country with a major nudist tradition whereas Spain has only allowed nudism for about 20 years. Before the 80's, a law inherited from Franco would condemn behaviours that offended "decency, good habits and that would provoke scandals".

Fortunately, over time nudism has become part of modern culture and has expanded to Spain. Barcelona is the perfect case study: lots of beaches in Barcelona are opened to nudists. You may even walk down the street naked if you feel like it, there's a law protecting people's nudity (although it is not so common to see naked people walk around).

Barcelona offers many incredible beaches for nudists, with lots of services available too: Red Cross watch, renting of hammocks, refreshment stall, toilets...

you'll find them near very reachable metro stations such as: Barceloneta, Ciutadella, Bogatell, Poblenou, Llacuna, Selva de Mar and El Maresme and Forum. It's also the case of Sant Sebastiá's beach, Nova Icària, Bogatell, Mar Bella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant.

If you get out of the city, Sitges has a semi urban beach called Balmins that's very popular among nudists. Another famous beach is Home Mort but it's somewhat complicated to get there. Garraf offers the Dune Park Beach (in Castelldefels), where the nudist zone is closer to Gava; there's also the small beach of Morisca.

For those who like the area near Maresme go to Masnou beach, there's a pedestrian access; or try Musclara in Caldes d'Estac, also easy to reach and with a cleaning service. Other famous nudist beaches are Murtra (Sant Pol de Mar), Forti (Mataró) and Roca Grossa (Calella).

The kids find this as one of the best options of being outdoors away from home with some of their best friends and a great opportunity to mingle, have fun with the kids of their age and make new friends. But as far as the kids are considered the ultimate right of selecting the best of the summer camps rests with the parents. The parents have to keep in mind the dual goal of making their kids have a jovial time as well as provide an opportunity to the kids to learn some new and innovative things. However this is not a stone crackling decision to be made, there are vast numbers of options available in the market. Some of them are as follows:

Day camps or day and night camps

First it is essential for the parents to understand whether they are intending to move on to a day or an overnight caps.

Day camps offer the activities to the kids which are spread throughout the day and in the night the children can get back home. Such camps are referred to as day camps. On the other hand the overnight camps are camps wherein the kids would stay at the camps throughout the day as well as in the night. Such camps are also termed as extended camps which exist for few weeks or a month. It would be preferable to send the kids for the first time on the day camps so that they could be aware of the camp environment and then the second or the third time when the kids go for visiting the summer camps they can go in for overnight summer camps. Hence it is essential that the kids are sent to the overnight camps only once they are aware about the basics of the camp life.

These camps are conducted with the educational focus in mind, they are conducted to teach the children based on different and interesting strategies, it teaches the kids from a different perspective than the usual medium of class room teaching. These camps have proven to be really beneficial to the kids from the curriculum point of view and kids enjoy these camps though they have an educational motive hidden in them.

Adventurous Camps

You would have seen many of the summer camps have adventure camps as their tag line in their advertisements. The adventurous camps offer the kids with an opportunity of mountain trekking, rock climbing but in addition to this they offer the kids to learn certain specific things. These adventure camps are expensive than the other options of summer camps.

Art Camps

These camps are one of the best options to steer the creativity within your children. However they not only offer creative programs but they do have other enjoyment programs for the kids.
