John Cage 4:33 for Accordion Polka Duet






John Cage's famous study of musical "rests", brought to life by the renowned accordion duo Lorna and Schnefsky. The "rest" in music is of equal importance as the"note". "Rests" also let you hear any ambient sound. John Cage highlighted this important fact in his 1952 composition 4:33. Because there are no "notes", the artists decided to perform with no clothes to accentuate the atypical structure of this opus. This difficult piece puts great stress on both the artist and the instruments, especially in the heat of California. Schnefsky nearly died stretching his old Organola during this performance, and Lorna, well, she was just Lorna.....
